Yamaha YZR 500 1980, Kenny Roberts.

May 15, 2016 · in Automotive · · 19 · 5K

My first , I modified the exhausts, filled the holes, might be why the fairing doesn't quite fit, finished in Model Master and Tamiya enamels, X22 over decals. Kenny Roberts was 500cc world champion in 1978, 1979 and 1980.

  1. Beautifully done.

  2. Glad to see it in Headlines, Allan, great job on a classic machine. I think I'm right in saying that Kenny Roberts invented the current "knees down" riding position when cornering, a true champion.

  3. By the way, Allan, I think if you browse down the list of groups we already have sufficient groups covering cars and motor bikes.

  4. Haven't heard that name in a long time (but I remember him)...nice lookin; build, Allan...ya done good! 🙂

  5. Others know far more than I about this subject, but as an interested bystander- a fine looking model.

  6. Like I'm looking at the real thing.

  7. Great job..I built this kit about 25yrs ago..it didnt come out near as nice as yours though. You just inspired me to find this kit and build it again..I also built the old red Honda green kawasaki and blue suzuki kits they were lots of fun..thanks for sharing..

  8. Great looking bike - well done! Those racing bikes always seem a bit weird in design - but then I'm not a bike buy...

Kenny and bazza those were the days. Nice one

  10. Good looking bike Allan. I've found with bike builds, if you have one small part out of line when assembling the engine and radiator at the start, then the fairings are a nightmare to put on!
You can still do a great diorama though with the fairings off.
