HobbyBoss 1/48 Sherman M4A2

June 3, 2016 · in Armor · · 13 · 3.6K

My second tank in 48th scale is this M4A2 from - and why haven't I started doing tanks in the 1/48th before? ))) It's like a vacation after building the aircraft models - just assembling a bunch of 150 pieces, soiling with mud - and is ready)))!

As for the model - it is, of course, inferior in quality to the Tamiya, but overall very good. I hope you'll enjoy the result!

  1. The result looks good to ME...nice job, Maxim.

  2. I am going to try one of these. Great job! It sure has a lot of detail for this scale.
    California Steve

  3. A good looking build. I think my only reservation with 1/48 armour is that all relqted military figures that might enhance the model are in 1/35, but as a stand-alone model it's very nice.

    • Rob, Tamiyas figures are reputedly small, but better than the older Bandai so far as poses. Dunno if Dartmoor or Gasolene might have what you want. Bandai did have well molded weapons, look for their Jeep and trailer kit.
We're just getting aircrew and mechanic figures, after years of slim to none.

    • We also have a guy in the club who does forced perspective dioramas, with 35th figures in the foreground, tapering back thru 48th to 72nd. Vehicles as well. Pretty effective, the way he does it.

    • Well this method suitable perhaps only for photos?

  4. I love this worn-steel-shining-through-stuff at the front edges.

  5. Thank you, colleagues!
I feel it is time to add to the collection of a German)) Pz IV or Tiger.

  6. Maxim, Tamiyas Tiger (s) and Mk IV are good. I've got the Tiger.
Good job on the Sherman, didn't know they had one. Looks like a good kit.

  7. Beautiful Maxim, I'm not an armor guy, but I like good models. This is nice !

  8. A change is as good as a rest, Maxim, and you've built a very nice tank, I love the finish and agree with Halvar's comment above.
