French air force Mirage F1C n°84 sepember 1979 (Special Hobby 1/72)

August 1, 2016 · in Aviation · · 18 · 4.7K

Hi,

This is the Mirage F.1C from . I decide to represent the number 84 (3/12 of Cornwall squadron) during a visit to Tours in September 1979.

The pilot is on board, the reactor is running, additional traps air inlets are open and the plane is the point of maneuver before takeoff.

He kept the traces of an exchange with the Belgian 42 th squadron just before the code 12-ZF...

The kit is the Special Hobby. I really enjoyed building this box.

The underside is painted with Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf spray can colour mixed with a little Humbrol No. 130 White. The resulting mixture was applied by airbrush.

The upper surface is a mixture of Aeromaster - 8 drops of 9046 (US inter blue ANA 608) for each one drop of 9004 (blue).

The fighter pilot is from PJ Production, the wheels of from CMK, the Pitot from Master and decals from Berna.

  1. Very nice! Washes and finishing look great for that scale. Exhaust section nicely done as well.

  2. Nice work! I like how you brought out the detail in the landing gear.

  3. Beautiful work (in any scale...more so in 72nd) - don't see that many Mirages posted. I like it a lot!

  4. Wow Eric, great job.

  5. Eric, just a beauty! Blue de Mirage, huh? Thanks for doing and posting one I don't see too often. I remember the Heller, and Airfix and Hasegawa also had them.
The only one I saw at my club was the Heller, years ago.

    • Hi Bernard,

Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, all the kits you said are old now. The Special Hobby is really detailled and a pleasure to build.

      Best regards,

  6. Yes very well done Eric.

  7. Good to see you posting again, Eric, especially when it's as good as this. Like Craig said above, beautiful work in any scale, but it's fantastic in 1/72.

    • Hi George,

Oh thank you very much. It is true, I have not built anything since my TA 152 and I have not had too much time to devote to the forum. But I'm back now.

      Thank you again George.

  8. the first to see it done

    LIKE!

  9. One of the most elegant fighter/bomber that ever flew. I have the Airfix and Hasegawa, built both but nice to see something new. Very well done, you captured the look of the F.1. Nice that you can build so many variants in quite a few different schemes. Appreciate the work, well done and thanks for sharing. I am about to wrestle with the 48th scale F.1 from Kitty Hawk. Looks good in the box lots of parts, and read about the grief in building it.

    • Hi Chuck,

Thank you very much for your comment. I dont know how is the kitty hawk kit, but i m sure that it is possible to do a magnificent model.

      Best regards, Eric
