Italeri Mirage III BZ SAAF 1/32 Scale

August 1, 2016 · in Aviation · · 15 · 3.5K

Hi Guys,

I haven't been posting anything for a while, work has been taking up a lot of my time.
I decided a while ago that I would like to build a BZ from the South African Airforce, so here are a few pictures of the build so far.
I used the old kit when I built the Cheetah in scale so I decided to use the new Iteleri kit for the two seat Mirage III BZ, well it did not help much, there was still a lot of work to do to do the conversion. So far I have done the following:

Scratch built the new cockpit tub.
Scratch Built the rear instrument panel.
Scratch built the nose gear wheel well.
Two seats from Isracast.
Wiring the panels and wheel wells.
etc etc.

I will give you the full breakdown of everything done on the conversion when the model is finished.

I hope you all like it so far...

Cheers
Marc

  2. Thanks Craig, Busy working on it now, its 11H30 PM here in South Africa.
Having fun, house is quiet, Wife asleep. GREAT. I think I will do an all night build.

  3. I always thought that scheme was pretty, now I'm convinced. Looking forward to seeing the finished article. Mirages! Just a pretty airplane!

  4. Undoubtedly a masterpiece in the making! Can't wait to see the finished product! Looks awesome thus far.

    • Hey there Morne, thanks for the comment, and the pictures you sent me, much appreciated. I am busy with the undercarriage at the moment, and just found out that the kit canopy is cracked...so I am going to make a mold and vacuform a new front canopy as well as the main canopy, more work. I will be sure to post the completed model when done.

  5. Looks fantastic so far! I especially like the look of the fluid stains underneath - what did you use to achieve that?

I built an SAAF Mirage F.1 years ago - love the camo scheme. I also picked up the new Cheetah released by High Planes this year - can't wait to tear into that. Actually building a Kfir in Ecuador colors now, with a Mirage 2000 on the "on deck" bench. Just got the bug for Mirages recently I guess!

(My son-in-law is from Cape Town so I've been in your neck of the woods a couple of times.)

  6. Great detailing. Really a nice looking model.

  7. nice building

  8. So far so good! Some really impressive detail and weathering technique.
