Trumpeter Supermarine Seafang 1/48

August 6, 2016 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.2K

I bought this kit at a club day because I liked the artwork on the box,it shows the in typical postwar FAA colours, extra dark sea grey over sky and black and yellow Suez conflict stripes to put a cherry on the cake, but no... it turns out the box artwork is ficticious, the correct colour scheme is as you see in the pictures and is a bit dull to say the least, anyway I persevered and got it finished but as possibly the very end of the glorious dynasty it is a bit of a wet squib even with that cool looking contra rotating prop.

The kit was easy enough to build except that for some reason you have to open the aperture for the camera yourself and I'm not going to kid you I made a balls of it so in the end I filled over it pretended it was never there 🙂

This build sits nicely with my other FAA stuff but on it's own it's no Sam Fox, probably only the British guys and Seamus will know who she is.

Cheers N.

  1. Another nice one, Mr. Foster...what type camera do you use?

  2. Ah, the end of the line for the Spitfire/Seafire, they had the Mk 46/47, Sea Fury, and jets on the horizon, so not wanted on voyage. Still, not a bad looking aircraft, but surpassed by events.
I was surprised when they decided to do this, but pleasantly so. Another one I never thought I'd see, save as a vacuform or shortrun resin in some smallish scale or other.
    Nice job on her.

  3. A nice beauty., Sam Fox? A singer?

  4. Looks like a pretty neat job to me, Neil. Now, Samantha Fox, to give her her full name, was a page three model in the Sun Newspaper in the 1970s. The word "jugs" comes to mind, not because she was an aviation enthusiast though. To paraphrase the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of the word "jug" might be: a vessel for transporting and dispensing liquid. In Sam Fox's case the liquid would be human milk... I hope this gets past the iModeler's censor!
