Hawker Typhoon (Late) 439 RCAF Squadron

September 26, 2016 · in Aviation · · 10 · 2.7K

Here's my scale Hawker IB I did a few years back. I started a build log here but was never able to post some completed pictures.

This Typhoon served with 439 Squadron RCAF near the end of the war in Europe.
It has the late war roundels, no invasion stripes, four blade prop and larger Typhoon/Tempest tail planes. The aircraft was named Nicky and was flown by Flight Officer Hugh Fraser who shot down an ME-262 jet in this aircraft before it was lost later on. The decals are out of print now.

Add-ons:
Airies cockpit
Ultracast 4 blade prop
Ultracast exhausts
Barracuda wheel set
Ultracast large tailplanes.
Eduard Bombs

  1. Easily the most aggressive looking aircraft of WW2 ,I don't know why I've never got round to a Typhoon but I'm gonna...
Very nice build David well done.
    N.

  2. Great looking Typhoon David! Love the weathering and finishing.

  3. David, always great to see a Typhoon (or bombphoon). Despite being a hulking brute, she's still a nice looking airplane! Great job on her!

  4. One of the better Typhoons I've seen built (..including mine :(..)
    Nice job all around.

  5. Nice, ridden hard and put away wet. Armed to the teeth too.

  6. Great build. impressive beast.

  7. Really nice looking David. I very much like the camo work the not over done weathering and the wear around the walk ways. The look of the 4 bladed prop seems to give it a little more horse power just sitting there. Well Done !

  8. Thanks guys,

    this was a fun build.

  9. Very nice rendition of a great kit. Superb weathering too. Well done!
