1/48 Airfix Buccaneer "Sea Witch Debbie"

October 28, 2016 · in Aviation · · 25 · 2.5K

Not a fall together kit, but with experience should pose no problems building. Definitely need a new tooled Brick! As our British cousins say "the only thing going lower than the Bucc is a submarine!"

  1. John, that's a the best one I've seen! I have the kit, and it is not for the faint of heart. Kit decals? Underwing stores?

    • Thanks Bernard, Neomega Cockpit, Heritage Aviation turbine faces, Airwaves Wing Fold & Speed Brake PE, Model Alliance Gulf War Buccaneer Sheet. The rest is all from the last reissue of the S.2b. The best thing about the last reissue of the kit was Airfix shoved 2 kits in the box before the company restructured. It looks pretty ragged in the box but it sure builds up nicely.

    • I agree with John ,I had this kit and didn't find any real problems, if anything OOB it's a bit basic, yes the two fuselage halves look like two bananas but I just started at the nose end glued a section an inch or so secured it with tape and allowed it to dry and then did it again and again until it was zipped up. Allowing each section to dry before moving on is a little time consuming but it lets you line the seams up perfectly.

  2. Built up nicely indeed...don't see too many of these done. I like it.

  3. I admire this aircraft ever since I saw one in Duxford.
    Cool project, John!

  4. There's a whole lot more than "some modeling skill required" to get one of those dogs to look like a Buccaneer. Excellent work. Really excellent work.

  5. I like this plane very much and your build pays every tribute to this classic aircraft, very well done!

  6. Not often seen built up, really nice job John.

  7. A rare but great sight, well done !

  8. Great build! Congrat for Your effort on this one!

  9. Fantastic work ! You nailed it...

  10. Nice! I like this aircraft saw a few RN's at NAS Oceana years ago

  11. Excellent! I really like this build.

  12. Great build! I've been too hesitant to start mine after hearing the horror stories of the fit.

  13. Well that turned out great! Well done intakes.

  14. Impressive Buc, I have this in the stash as well, it will be a major project as I plan to round up the similar aftermarket goodies you used to build it. The wing fold config looks great, I was considering building that way as well for shelf space. Thanks for sharing a tough kit, well done.

  15. She's a beaut! I really like the desert scheme on the Buc. I had already built the Airfix 1/72 version in typical British green/grey, but had a friend give me an old Matchbox kit that had some resin stuff added to it, and I secured some decals to do the desert pink. Hope it turns out a sharp as yours!

  16. What a ripper build...well done! I've often thought about buying the Airfix kit (it's in the 'right' scale!) but the reviews are not flattering. Perhaps we may see a modern kit one day! I take my hat off to you sir!

  17. John, this is a real beauty, very nice looking build !

  18. Hello John,
My compliments on a terrific job.
They are not to easy to construct, so I know what you used on filler and clamps to keep the construction together.
