What was the first kit?

October 3, 2016 · in Uncategorized · 9 · 5.3K

Well the long standing question of when the first model kit was produced can now be put to a date long before we thought.
Extensive research has found this carving on the tomb of the Egyptian Pharaoh Modelshopoli. Which shows that the date is well before most of us were born?
I will have to thank Joe Caputo for he help he has given me on this subject.

I have read that model sailing vessels were found in the cinders of Pompeii. Kids must have toys you know.

  2. Hilarious...never knew that. 🙂

p.s. must have been an ancestor of Kelly Johnson, huh?

  3. The Egyptians had a rich history of model building. Model ships were also unearthed dating back to ancient Egypt. Imagine a Pharaoh flying a P-38. 🙂

  4. Quick call the History channel!

  5. So, we get to see that guy with the crazy hair telling us about this, huh? Giorgio something? The boy freaks me out!
Bob Mack, you are a devil! Well played, Sir!

  6. Brilliantly funny, apparently Kelly Johnson had some help in designing the P-38.
