1/32 Focke-Wulf FW-190D

November 8, 2016 · in Aviation · · 16 · 2.3K

This is the kit built basically out of the box. The decals came from an Aeromaster sheet, seat belts are from Eduard. I don't build a lot of Luftwaffe subjects and used 25 year old tins of Xtracolor German colors to finish this kit! I used RAF Sky as a substitute for the late war light greenish color we see on many German a/c towards the end of the war. I also substituted US Neutral Gray for the the light gray (RLM 77?) on the wings. This was a lot of fun to paint and I'm looking forward to doing a few more late war German subjects in the near future.

  1. John, that is one pretty looking fighter! Great work!

  2. Very nice work, John...I like that!

  3. Beautiful build.

  4. Great effort, John. Just shows you can get a very nice result without big hassles or big money.

    • Thanks, Rob. It's really a foolproof kit. It's very nicely designed and includes a module that you build up to represent the rear of the engine and it's associated plumbing that is all visible through the wheel wells. And I love using ancient enamels!

  5. Wow, your 190 looks great !

Late war colors are my favorite schemes for any Luftwaffe subject. I just picked up the same kit at an online auction. I've seen good on line reviews of the Hasegawa model. Yours is no exception.

    Fantastic...

    • Thank you, Louis. Have fun with it! I really enjoyed this one. I experienced zero problems building it. The landing gear struts are a tight fit, but that's a good thing on a plane with unusual l/g geometry like the 190.

  6. Great looking 190 John!

  7. Your Dora looks pretty good, John.
The different colors on the sub assemblies comes out really well.
Hopefully we see more of "those" from your bench.

  8. Thanks, Bernd! I have a couple 1/48 190s in the stash to do.

  9. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Sharp looking DORA John. Nice scheme and weathering,

  10. Nice looking 190 John.
