BA-20 (HobbyBoss 1/35)

November 24, 2016 in Armor

Usually I build aircraft, but my second passion is armored cars! So, this is soviet armored car BA-20 based on GAZ-M1. A very nice kit from HobbyBoss in 1/35 scale with rubber wheels, engine. As an aircraft modeler I can’t weather it well like AFV guys do – with all of this mud, dust, chipping, and so on. Painted with Vallejo acrylics, weathered with oils and pigments.

  1. The subtle shading technique used looks perfect….nice job, Dmitry.

  2. Dmitry, beautiful work! Next to the tanks of the time, it looks dainty.
Does anyone put one out in 48th? I like armored cars also! And this is a neat one!

  3. I really like how you depicted the tires and wheels. Very realistic. Not too much dust, not too little. Just right.

    Excellent build. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Subtle finishes and an usual subject. Nice.

  6. That’s a nice looking model, Dmitry. I’m an a/c modeler, like you, and have considered buying that kit as a change of pace>. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Very nice work, Dimitry !
Something different between aircraft builds is refreshing.

  9. Nothing wrong with your weathering techniques on this piece of Armor. Aircraft taught you well.
