Doyusha 1/12 Mercedes 450SL.

Hello Friends, after disappearing for a while, I returned with a different project. In the 80's, my father had a 450sl , in time he had to sell it for other life projects, but he always missed the car. This year, I decided to give to him on his birthday an exact replica of the car he had. As I had photos stored, and memories, I was able to reproduce it in its smallest details. The biggest challenge was finding a kit for that car in question. After several contacts with modeling friends, a rare and out of production appeared on the scale. I did not think twice and split up ! The car was painted with automotive paint, in the correct original color, manganese brown. The interior was red, and my father's car did not have the magnesium wheels, but the hubcaps. I used red fabric to make the carpet as faithful as possible. The kit misses having the mercedes emblem on the trunk lid as well as the 450sl logo. I hope you like the final result, the kit is very good, extremely rich in detail ...

  1. Fantastic looking representation, sir - what better present to give Dad. Good for you!

  2. I am sure you Dad will be very happy. Nicely done.

  3. Looks like a fantastic kit. Great result, very impressive.

  4. Whatever happened to this company? The certainly didn't disappear due to lack of quality in their kits! I have a couple of the 1/12 LP500 Counatch kits and they are very nice. (But I'd really like to find tires to fit the rims for the LP400, as that is the variant I prefer.) You did an outstanding job on this one. The chrome in the kit looks very deep and rich, the back bumper and tail lights with the brightwork around the convertible top is my favorite view. The hubcaps look great as well. Did you paint and then use foil?

    • Hi Josh, the bumpers, front grille, hubcaps, taillights, mirrors and headlights are already chrome-plated, the rest, like the window mouldings and the convertible top cover trim were made with an pigment that looks like chrome and then finished with clearcoat.

  5. You've done a great job on this Eduardo, a classic car and a beautiful replica.

  6. Still a classic the MBZ 450SL 107 type roadster, 1972-1989 in the US market. Yours is an excellent model of this car. Very desirable today with the Euro lamps and 72-73 style bumpers. (74-89 had the larger impact shock type). Here in the US grey market cars were brought in with they style lamps and bumpers until the Feds put the kabash on that. Great story and history. Thanks for sharing

  7. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Eduardo, that is a fine and very singular model, and better yet ... a gift to your father, very emotional. I can see him staring at it as memories invade his thoughts and a few smiles or joyous smirks pop from him.
Very well done, very good paint work and shine.

  8. Excellent work !

  9. A very nice build Eduardo , and a great back story too.
