Eduard 1/48 Albatros DV Déjà Vu

January 21, 2017 · in Aviation · · 22 · 2.6K

It took longer than expected, but finally the second one is finished. Basicly it has the same modifications and improvements than the first one, just with a different scheme, a little more demanding with all those B/W stripes. Thank you for watching.

  1. Ruben, the woodgrain effect on the fuselage and the prop are just amazing!
Albatri are easier with the wavy camouflaged wings than with hexagon.
I can't remember- what's the difference between the D-V and the DV-a? Something to do with the wings?
Great work on both. Nailed the stripes!

    • Hi, thank you for your comment, the Va routed the aileron control cables through the lower wing, so there were two more cables and turnbuckles coming out from the lower wing by the outer struts, I´m not sure if all of the Va´s had a more powerful motor, but most of what I´ve seen had a different arrangement on the valve rocker ensemble, and other minor details on the fuselage. I´m no expert on WWI and I´m sure someone else can point out exactly all of the differences. In the last model of these series I´ll show some of these differences.

  2. Wow...exquisite work, sir...very nice indeed.

  3. Biplanes scare the bejaysus outta me, I've built a Swordfish and have a Stearman in the stash. You did an awesome job here. What did you use for turnbuckles? I've been eyeing up these for the Stearman..

  4. Some models have the very special quality to them you just want to swing the prop and go for a ride. This is one of them.

  5. This is simply beautiful. The woodgrain look is fantastic. I don't mean to repeat what everyone is saying, but this is really nice. Well done Ruben !

  6. A masterpiece, the woodgrain looks real-like! Fantastic!

  7. Ruben, this is a strong piece of work. I like how you've done the rib tapes, the rigging, the wood work on the fuselage ...even the mud on the under side. The model is a strong candidate for model of the month. I though it was a WingNut Wings kit at first.

    Two thumbs up.

  8. Hello, thank you everybody for your kind comments.

  9. What else is there to say? Fantastic work, thank you for sharing it with us.

  10. Everyone has already said it - excellent build and finish, wood grain superb, stripes really set it off, etc! Lovely model.

  11. Very impressive. Truly a masterpiece (both of them, actually).
    Congratulations!

  12. Such a work of art. Beautiful. My vote for this month's winner... Not that I get to vote. Lol.

  13. The Albatros is one of my favorite WW1 planes. It has a streamlined look to it with a water cooled inline 6 cylinder engine, and twin Spandau machine guns. What's not to like about that ?

Both of your planes are fantastic. If I had a vote, I would cast mine for your plane as "Model of the Month" too.

Thanks for sharing these beauties with us.

  14. Very impressive in deed. Have you used decals for the wood or the oil paint method?

  15. Hello again, thank you everybody for your support.

  16. Increible, mi amigo. Very, very, very special craftsmanship.
