Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt BF109F-4

January 7, 2017 · in Aviation · · 13 · 1.9K

As part of a review for SAM, the kit is fantastic as always. Although a re-boxing of the G kit, it is a simple and nice kit to build, with plenty of parts and six marking options in total.
Nothing is wrong with the kit, however the masking is again re-boxed from the G kit, and if you take note, the early F's had a clear canopy instead of the much later canopies on the 109G. In other words - watch out and mask up before painting. Something which I failed to notice until the end. But still a nice model kit.

    Like it. Nice job.

  3. I believe that if you compare the F and G-6 kits directly , you will find that the wing and fuselage pieces are completely new moulds, The sprue of smaller parts etc is the same, as most of them are generic to all late models 109's (the give away is the circular wheel wells on the F - the G has the squared outer wall and the tyre bulge on the upper wing. - Both are missing from the F wing.

  4. Very nice, Michael...love that paint scheme.

  5. Michael your attention to detail and finesse can be seen clearly on the model. I notice that the starboard exhaust guard is missing and the port side cross on the upper wing is rather tattered ...I take it your working from photographs? Two thumbs on this build. I always get a kick on the experten's opinion that the Eduard "F" kit is not the perfect kit in 1/48 and that the Zevada "F" kit is the "Best" in accuracy and yet many modelers gravitate to building these Eduard kits. Your kit looks like it fits in the category of "Goldie Locks" ...just right .

  6. Michael, an excellent example of this 109. I also believe your right on in a lot of your detail and finish work. This is gorgeous !

  7. I like the weathering and the subject matter. Marseille flew some pretty cool looking 109's. Yours is fantastic ! Two thumbs up...

  8. Nice work

  11. Love it Michael! Trop scheme is one of my favorites for the 109, and your weathering looks great.
