RAF 143 Sqn. Coastal Command Mosquito FB VI,

February 1, 2017 · in Aviation · · 21 · 4.2K

again. Hard to beat for sheer enjoyment & my first build for 2017. In the course of building my previous model (Beaufighter TF X) I came across more history about the RAF Strike Wing stationed at Banff; this time about Mosquitos, so the die was cast & I pulled out the kit, dusted it off & set to work. The build is OOB, paints are Lifecolor & Tamiya. Weathering is mostly pastels. Photos of these aircraft indicate they were fairly clean although somewhat faded & exhaust stained. I was lucky enough to find several photos of aircraft from this squadron, including NE-A & NE-D, on the web. The stories of Coastal Command missions make fascinating reading & a Mustang Mk.III will soon be needed to fly escort!
