  1. That shot of the inside of a jet intake looking forward…..what IS that?

  2. It’s name is Fred …

Oh – did you mean something else?
    (Seriously, I don’t know.)

    Next contestant.

  3. Hi Rob,
    Again a nice collection.
The F4K on the deck and the Catalina in New Guinee are saved on the PC.

  4. Great stuff, as always. Love the briefing!
The shot of the German patrol prepping for another foray into a Stalingrad factory is classic.

  5. Intake might be a Mig 17 or 19 ? Love the dud bomb on side of truck.

  6. Rob, yet another thought provoking collection of photos. Any one of them is enough to get your attention, you’ve managed to get a whole bunch of ’em.
    Well Done!

  7. Another great collection!

  8. Hi Rob, I like these photo sets a lot please keep them coming !,do you have any info on pic# 13 with the submarine in particular the location, the bridge looks like the Runcorn/Widnes bridge.
    Cheers N.

    • Sorry don’t know about it, apart from it looking like a midget sub. Sometimes I remember the story to the photo but after looking at several hundred images the links get a little blurred.

  9. OK….the general consensus (and I tend to agree), is that the “mystery jet intake” is that of a Mig-19. Here’s a photo to be considered:

    • Hold The Presses….now various folks [over there] have disputed the previous ‘proof’ and have “positively” identified it as a BAC Lightning – and I think they’re right.
Oh well….enough of this topic. Let’s move on.

  10. A great pleasure as usual, thank you Rob.

  11. The third to last photo with three children…70 years is not a long time in the frame of things. Fascism is a blink of an eye. The remainder of the photos serve as reminders of the sacrifices for Freedom and Democracy and its benefits. Stating the obvious but, seeing those children and Swastika makes me thankful that we can practice our hobby and write about it. Thanks Rob.
