Tamiya 1/48 Focke Wulf Fw-190 F-8, MTO, Italy WWII

April 15, 2017 · in Aviation · · 17 · 2.8K

Finally able to post this build that was completed in January. 's excellent Fw-190 F-8, in a desert Scheme of RLM 79/80/76. It was completed about the same time as the D-9 posted earlier, but delayed only because I had snapped the guns and pitot tube off when removing the masks off the canopy. So instead of trying to just glue them back on, I waited for an opportunity to replace them with a brass set from Master #48019. Lifecolor was used for the RLM79 Sand , Aeromaster Acrylics for the RLM 80 OlivGrun and RLM76
Lt Blue. Olive Green for the bombs, using Print Master Decals for the stencils on the bombs, I have used Pint Master before, but these did not want to settle very well at all, they would not follow the curvature of the bombs even when soaking them with Solvaset which is pretty strong. Eduard's zoom set for the interior, used the kit decals, but red 13 was not the side number that is in the kit, it is black 10, but those decals fell apart when I dipped them. So robbed the side numbers from a spare sheet left over from the A-3 kit built last year. So a little creative here. The model represents a "Butcher Bird" while operating over Italy in the summer of 1944. And with that thanks for viewing.
