IPMS Race City May Meeting

May 22, 2017 · in News · 3 · 1.7K

Another great club meeting yesterday. 13 members attended with some outstanding show and tell models on display. We reviewed the excellent IPMS Region 12 contest held in Denver, NC several week ago which by the way the Race City club won 1st place in the Miscellaneous Collections category with it's collection of EGG PLANES. Good job people. We had a discussion on our favorite BOX ART. It turns out I'm not the only one who has bought a kit because of the cool picture on the top!

  1. Nice work on those three in the headline photo (...not enough nose weight in the P-38, huh?... 🙁 - coulda used the engine nacelles for added ballast).

  2. Great showing & an interesting write up - thanks for sharing. As usual, our friend Craig comes in with a useful, but weighty suggestion. Ha! I remember my 1st P-38 (I've built 3; 1 Mono. in 1/48, & 2 in 1/72 scale, the manufacturers of whom I don't recall, but at least one was likely an Airfix) and I recall sweating how to get enough weight to sit properly, & without a ladder or some other prop. It was a bust until I thought of the nacelles & prop spinners. It worked. Barely! LoL!

Anyway, thanks for a good report, Bruce! Kudos to you & your fellow modelers!

  3. Looks like a nice show. Thanks for sharing this with us. I noticed your Hot Rod Ferrari... 🙂 🙂 🙂
