Corsair Mk.II

September 3, 2017 · in Aviation · · 27 · 2.5K

This is the scale with the wings clipped to represent a Fleet Air Arm machine. I used a Eduard etched zoom set for the cockpit.

The paints are all Xtracylix, and the decals are by Techmod. Vought Corsair II (72014).

The Aircraft is from 1834 NAS HMS Victorious 1944.

  1. Beautiful work, Julian. Great model of a,subject that does not heritage credit it deserves. It was the Brits, who taught the US Navy, how to land their own aircraft on its carriers!

  2. Corsair wise I meant to say...

  3. Very nicely done Julian. The markings and paint look great. Yours is one of the best 1/72nd Corsairs I've seen recently. My compliments to you.

    • Thank you very much Jim. The Corsair is one of my best loved aircraft.
I've made a few now. I've always used the Squadron Signal IN ACTION Series books when building them.

  4. Completely agree with Mr. Sullivan...couldn't believe it was a 72nd scale build. Great job on that!.

  5. Excellent rendition of the "Bent Wing Bird" Julian. I'm really impressed with the finish. What did you use to accent the panel lines, very neatly done.

  6. Beautifully done, Julian! The finish - as is all of the build - is superb.

    Bravo!

  7. Very nice Corsair! The Brits also developed the steam catapult, I believe.

  8. Fabulous. Immaculate.

  9. Julian, That's a beauty!, A very nice build all around !

  10. Stunning model mate! Very well done

  11. :;) ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Paulo just took the word out of my mouth ... STUNNING .
From the markings and the fine camouflage scheme and colors ... STUNNING.
This one is obvious a fresh and different look at the Corsair, and much yet when one takes upon consideration the scale ... very impressive work Julian.
    Thanks for the pictures.

  12. That's a beauty! Just when I thought I'd built all the Corsairs I want to build, now I'm inspired to add a GB version to the mix.

  13. Your Corsair looks really good in that colour scheme, Julian, very neatly done.
