Progress on ICM kit, 1:48 scale Dornier Do-17Z-2….Finally…
I managed to get a few hours on the bench this past week. Got work done on a Hasegawa 1:48, A6M2, (Paint ready), some detail work on another Hasegawa kit, 1:32 F6F-5, "Hellcat", and this beautiful kit, ICM's Dornier Do-17Z-2.
I am find this kit a real pleasure to put together. Very nicely detailed, and with excellently engineered fit. Only a couple places need attention from "Mr. Seam Putty", (I hate that guy) but otherwise this has been an enjoyable build
I used Gunze enamel for paint, in the early Luftwaffe 70/71/65 scheme. Markings will be those of a machine assigned to I. KG-76, based in France, during the Battle of Britain.
Now it's on with the clear gloss, then decals, then another coat of clear gloss, and finally the flat coat, weathering and fiddly bits! Almost there, mates!

I have that same kit on the pile to start soon, full with AM goodies. What were the trouble areas you found along the build?

Biggest area of concern is the upper wing to fuselage join. That required the most attention to fix a step there. The forward wing root was a lesser issue, just a pain in the rump to sand smooth.
Also, may I suggest their Ju-88 kits? I think they are even better!
Ahah, you read my mind there! Still have an old shelf of doom Dragon Ju.88 to complete first, but their A-5 is on my mind for sure, Frederick

I bought the Ju-88A-4, and a buddy gave me the A-5. Both are way better than the Dragon kit

Some pretty sharp masking Frederick! This is shaping up to be a cracker!
One thing to do to make this perfection (and it's easy): run white glue around the base of the cockpit canopy. It dries invisible and gets rid of those nasty little gaps without harming the clear plastic. Other than that, the model is looking great.

That's looking Great! I have 2 of the Do 215 kits (1 by ICM and 1 by Revell - the nightfighter version) and some Xtradecal schemes to use on them. If they go this well, then I will have to look at getting the Do 17s to match... dangit! 😉 I'm currently working on a braces of Ju87's (4x hasegawa (R-2, D 5 and D-8, and G-2 and the new Airfix B-1. Once I clear those it's on to the Dorniers!
The Airfix kit is FAR superior to the Hasegawa kit, by a country mile! The only thing I do NOT like about the Airfix offering, is the way they handles the open cockpit pieces...making what should have been TWO separate parts, molded as one...They need to fix that on the 'B' model, when it comes out
