Scale Model Challenge 2017 Veldhoven The Netherlands

October 22, 2017 · in Show Reports · · 14 · 2.3K

Hello everyone, I like to share some pictures I've made during my visit at the Scale Model Challenge 2017 in Veldhoven, near Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

With just one hour driving away from where I live it was easy to visit this show, now for the 10th edition.

The event is mainly focussed on figure painting and militairy models, but other subjects are more than welcome. It has al large group of clubs presenting themselves. They come from everywhere not just the Netherlands, but also from Blegium, France, Germany, Switserland, Czech republic. Lots of specialist dealers are present, and various workshops to attend. Just some pictures I've made to share with you all.

Take care.

Cheers, Ferry.

  1. Love those formation ships, looks like a good day out.
    N.

  2. Like Neil those formation ships look great. Must have been a great weekend for model shows as Cincinnati, Ohio, had one as well. And Ferry I've been to Eindhoven, back in the 70's tracking my dad's exploits with 101st Airborne Division. He was always spoke highly of the Dutch people.

  3. Looks great. My mate Conrad is wandering around there somewhere.

  4. Great photos, Ferry! Like the others, I really liked seeing the formation ships. Very interesting!

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. Ditto on those colorful formation bombers, Ferry...always wanted to go crazy and do one up like that, but just couldn't bring myself to DO that to a model. 🙁
Nice show, by the way. Thank you.

  6. Thanks for showing us these pictures, Ferry, certainly an interesting collection, that Victor looks especially nice. I was hoping for some more figures though given the history of this event, maybe you didn't think them worth photographing?

    • Thank you George. It took al lot of time to go around the show, and talking to many people. Most of the figures where on display in the contest area which was closed for judging the moment I wanted to go in. The quality overall was superb. November 25th we will have IPMS Holland with their big show, I will be there as well, and taking pictures.

  7. The show has many high quality models judging by the photos posted.
I especially liked the Trojan, the Cuban Mig, the Horten and outside aircraft that lovely deux cheveux citröen.
Of course, as anel and Tom pointed out, those B-24 assembly ships “squadron” were a show on their own

  8. As everyone else has noted, the formation ships are cool - was that a category of its own or one insane modeler?

    • Thank you Tom. The display of the formation ships was done by a model club from Switserland. All members were involved in building these models. 90% of them are done by airbrushing the patterns and colours, there were only a few models they used decals for the colours. I had a great conversations with them, and they received a lot of attention.

  9. Hi Ferry,

Went there Saturday. Was very well worth it, but Very very busy by the show department. Modelbouw eeklo had two items on show, they had entree number 1581 and 1584. And we were not the last ones to register.

It attracts modelers from all over Europe. Most interesting to see were the early buyers. You pay your entrance fee. You rush to the shop department. After thirty minutes, plastic bags filled, you pass all the people in opposite direction, still fighting their way along the cash register and you are on your way home again. They have seen absolutely nothing from the whole show. This is food for the psychiatrist.

Thanks for sharing your pictures ferry.

    Regards, Dirk / The Netherlands.

  10. Hello Ferry and thanks for sharing these amazing pictures with us. I had to look at them many times and each time I noticed something new. My favorites were the Assembly ships and the T-28, but the others were very nice too.

  11. Some nice work on display there - thanks for posting!
