1/32 Hasegawa P-40 E Warhawk “Old Exterminator”

November 2, 2017 · in Aviation · · 12 · 3.2K

This is P-40E finished with the markings of “Old Exterminator” flown by Colonel Robert L. Scott in Assam -India during April-May 1942.

The name “Old Exterminator”was not painted on the aircraft.Scott refered to the machine by this appellation following a particularly successful strafing mission against Japanese Infantry on the Burma Road , 9 May 1942. Note that no serial displayed on the tail.

Cokcpit modified by instrument panel and seat belts.

Other modifications are:

  • Quickboost exhausts

  • Master Detail gunsight

Painting was done with Gunze acrylics.

I have used SuperScale Int. Warhawks MS320247 decal set. Decals are extremely excellents.

Decals applied due to the decal set guide. During the final finishing touches I realised that “U.S. ARMY” decals were too far forward on the wing. The reason is the mistake on decal sheet guide.

It was too late to fix it. Well I have to accept it as it is.

Happy Modelling

  1. There has to be something said about a fine looking P-40, Tolga. This one really shines. One of my favorite planes

  2. Awesome Warhawk!

  3. Another candidate for model of the month. Usually, the under side of a airplane model get glossed over in the photo dept but, the photos that have been posted of the wheel well bays and the landing gear, the machine gun access panels are exceptional. Two thumbs up Tolga. More strong work of a modeling standard.

  4. Tolga, one of the best P-40s I've seen. The weathering is beautifully done, particularly the undersides, as already mentioned.

  5. Exceptional work Tolga.

  6. The word "Outstanding" comes to mind...which is typical with your work.

  7. Extraordinary workmanship, Tolga...as always.

  8. Classic version with the shark's mouth and interesting history. Your models always look great and this one's no exception. I'm also impressed that you know how to spell "modelling" correctly.

  9. Tolga, I always enjoy your postings. This is another fine example of the wonderful work you do, and I also like P-40's. Well done !

  10. She's a beauty! Another fine example of your skills.
