Friday Briefing

Just over a year ago, I started Friday Briefing as a way to share images that would interest, intrigue and inspire fellow modellers. Now, some 2500 images later, we’ve reached the end of this particular chapter.

Whilst I still have a bank of photographs to hand, I find that it becomes increasingly difficult to continue to offer selections that meet my original criteria, as it takes time to accumulate and maintain a representative selection to the standard so-stated.

It’s easy to find pretty pictures of pretty planes, tanks, ships or similar, but stock images were never the heart of the Briefing, and I want to close while there’s still an edge to the mandate.

  9. Fridays will never be the same…………….. I always looked forward to this. But I totally understand your reasons why. You inspired me for several builds in the past with your Friday postings. I think you may have done it again with this last set………………… Take care my friend and have a Happy New Year.

  10. Thank you Rob, for for year of funny, interesting, thought provoking and sometime heart rending images. You set a high bar.
    Well done.

  11. Ditto on the thanks, these briefs were most enjoyable. Merry New Year!

  12. Great pics as usual !! That lozenge pattern on #24 looks familiar.

  13. Rats! This is the worst news today! I’m VERY sorry to see the “Briefings” end, but I understand your reasons. As the late, great George Harrison said; “All things must pass.”

Thanks for the many wonderful, thought provoking, humourous, and just plain odd (in some cases) photos you’ve shared with us.

I wish you and yours a VERY Happy and Prosperous New Year, mi amigo!

PS – after you’ve had a chance to “catch your breath” so to speak, perhaps you’ll put together a few more pictorial “briefings” down the road. Not as a regular feature, but an occasional enjoyable feature. That would be most welcome!

    Sincerely, Jeff Bailey

    • Thanks, Jeff (and everyone) for the kind words. I could never predict who liked what, and you can’t second-guess tastes, but I’m glad it was a useful exercise for some fellow modellers.

As for a return in the future in this or another form – who knows? Never say never!

  14. I will miss the Friday breafing, ecellent selection untill now, thank for you have done untill now.

  15. I have looked forward to this feature since you started. I can only imagine how much effort it must take, and look forward to whatever you put up in the future!

  16. I will certainly miss these. Many Thanks

  17. I will definitely miss the routine of looking for your photo briefing posts, but maybe each one of us can contribute a few each week. Just a suggestion. I myself have photographs that I took while serving. Need to get them scanned. I am pretty sure none have ever been published as they are still on old fashion film and photographs. Most taken with my old Canon Ae-1, still have it, but I don’t I’ve touched in at least 10-15 years ago.

  18. Thanks, as always, for these, Rob, Friday Briefing, much missed, much remembered.

  19. Thanks for all the amazing photos! I waited every Friday with great expectations. The only time I wasn’t able to see them was when hurricane Maria hit us here in PuertoRico. Thanks again for your great job!

  20. Thanks Rob for giving us such a fine mix of incredible photos throughout 2017!! I am sad to hear that you won’t post the Friday Briefing anymore but I am sure you will delight us with something else!!!

  23. Akkkk! What a new year’s surprise!! Gonna be missed, but totally understandable. Quite the eclectic collection you have there and always fun to run through them. My Fridays will not quite be the same…!

  24. Oww, Like all the others I will miss this on friday. But like you say, who knows what will come up, and maybe it’s an idea to post interesting pictures in a special “corner” of iModeler.
