Hobbyboss 1/48 FW-190D-9, Halle, Germany, 1945

December 8, 2017 · in Aviation · · 11 · 3.5K

Here's my Hobbyboss FW-190D-9, of II/JG6 in May 1945. Its a very nice kit, but could use a few tweeks to make it really stand out. I really like the patched together scheme's of wars end.

True Details seat and Ultracast exhaust, Mike Grant inst. decals. Scratchbuilt wheelwell and engine details, detailed landing gear, corrected shell ejection chutes to D-9 configuration, riveted unpainted portion of lower wing

"Aeromaster" decals, Tamiya acrylic paint, oils and pastel weathering

Hope you like,

Colin

  1. A real beauty Colin, well done!

  2. Love it, a really good looking butcher bird!

  3. Very nice, Colin. I'm with you; the late-war patchwork paint is very interesting.

  4. Very nice. I really like this kit - lots better than the Eduard for sure,.

  5. Can’t get more patched than this one!
Brilliant paint work, very lively colours and subtle weathering just bring your model to life.
Just a Q, does the kit have the correct undercarriage bay with exposed engine? I have their Ta152 C in the stash and it had this correct features, and I imagine both kits share some equal moulds, like the wings.

  6. Good-lookin' build, my friend...nice work.

  7. I like your brief and detailed build description, Colin, and FW 190 is probably my favourite WWII aircraft as far as looks are concerned, and this one looks particularly good with all those details and the patchwork paint.

  8. Great subject - brilliant execution!
