Battle Hopperbio-/mechatronics grasshopper bike (Bandai)

January 11, 2018 · in Sci-fi · · 11 · 2.5K

I participated a group building after year changeover and decided to do something new & small. My first motorcycle model is a bit special while it is an amalgam of bio-/mechatronics parts. Modified to military use, Battle Hopper is a mixture of basic motorcycle and grasshopper … or so I assume. The driver itself is a robot with amazing 375 degrees field of vision equipped helmet.

Bandai kit was a perfect fit again. The hardest part of the build was the careful removal of all tiny parts from sprues without destroying them. I used a small saw. Painted using MR Paint black primer and black-green camo. Metal parts painted using Vallejo acrylics. Thin dark minimal oil wash to everything. Only modification to the kit is a pair of longer helmet antennas with red/green lights on top. Made them from stretched sprue and blobs of white glue. Jumps of the bike are so high that those navigational lights are obligatory.

This kit was a nice little quick one. Happy rest of the year.

  7. Man this is nice, I like it very much.

  8. Thank you sirs. I'm flattered by your positive comments. This was very relaxing bike/tiny experience for me. So, maybe I will build a bigger bike (not hopper) and something else very small in the near future. You have been warned.

  9. He's a canny little fella!
