iModeler December Awards

January 21, 2018 · in News · · 20 · 1.7K

Once again it is time for our monthly retrospective - a look back at some of the notable articles posted at this site during December. These days we are quite preoccupied with the forthcoming major upgrade to iModeler, so please pardon the somewhat late announcement!

December was a generously busy month. 159 new entries adorned the headlines of iModeler during the period, prompting a whopping 2612 comments and 41,000 individual article reads. A worthy conclusion of a fantastic modeling year!

According to our long-standing tradition we are giving away a pair of awards as a token of appreciation to our contributiors. The jury panel this month were @editor, @halvarvonflake, @magnusf and @raikisan.

Every month, all Headline contributions are included in our traditional honorary prize draw. We're looking for the entries that represent the month's highlight in terms of modeling quality and presentation. We also allot an award to a randomly chosen article to emphasize that all contributions to this site deserve recognition.

iModeler Best in Show - December 2017

The jury's Best in Show award goes to Aleksandar Sekularac's 4X4…X2 - a 1/72 scale MAZ-573 heavy military tractor. The attention to detail and finish in this model are to very high standards... but one really needs to consider the diminutive size of this model to really appreciate its virtues. The jury was awed by the fact that despite this being one of the smallest entries of the month (only 12cm in size), Aleksandar's MAZ could (and did) easily withstand a head-to-head comparison with much larger models. A rare quality indeed and in the eyes of this jury, an extraordinary achievement!

But wait, there is more! – the Random Award

We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is
Ferry Dierckxsens and his Heller 1/72 Dassault Mirage III-R. Good to see these older kits built - and still going strong!

  1. Congratulations to all contributors...winners one and all in my book.

  2. Lovely to see vehicles, aircraft, armour, bikes, and a bit of post apocalyptic fantasy all in there. I find it really hard to believe that MAZ is 1/72. To get that amount of detail and craft into 12 cm (re)defines model making.

  3. A stellar group of winners! The MAZ-573 is truly a work of modeling art - especially considering the scale; but so are the others. Well done to all of y'all!

  4. Well done, everyone.

  5. Once again a difficult choice from a wonderful selection of models, but definitely the right one.

  6. Congratulations to one and all. Some excellent work and nice contributions.

  7. Congratulations to all - nice work all round and great to see the variety of subject matter.

  8. Congratulations Aleksandar, Great work! And very well done everyone for all the wonderful subjects!

  9. Thanks very much for the honourable mention! Greatly appreciated! Congratulations to everyone else also!

  10. Congratulations, everyone! A nice mix of subjects, beautifully done!

  11. Congratulations to all. Well deserved.
I modeler is on course, that shows the content being presented.
    Regards, Dirk / The Netherlands.

  12. These picks are the absolute cream of the crop ! Well done and congrats to all... It has to be a very hard job trying to pick from these choices. They are all fantastic indeed...

  13. Congratulations to all. Its too bad that only one model can be recognized for being the "Best" when all of these models are the
"Best" in their category. Its hard to find fault with any of them.

  14. What a load of beauties we have this month.
    Well done to all.

  15. Yes, well done to all!

  16. Greetings!

Wow, I’m quite stunned that my little truck caught the title. Very grateful and flattered; not only was this build outside of my mainstream, but there is also a full assortment of winner models to choose from here. Congrats to all of you!

    Cheers,
    Aleks

  17. Well deserved, Aleks. To get that three tone camo so perfectly in such a small subject is the work of a magician.
