Year of the Cat

this is the -1 straight from the box. A great build and I think the Hobby Boss kit is a wonderful kit of their aircraft. I used the kit decals and they represent an A/C of VF-3 flown by Lt A.M.Granat in 1946.

  1. She's a beaut, Frank. Good to see you on site again!

  2. Nice job, Frank...I like it. 🙂

  3. Frank, she's a beauty. Best one on the market in 48th, IMHO. I'm planning on making mine a French A.F. in Indochina(!) Revealing my age. Thinking I might need another one, Ha!

  4. Lovely Bearcat, Frank! It's one heck of a cat and yours looks great. The kit sounds like a real winner.

  5. Two cats with one build! Great job.

  6. Another welcome addition to the Year of the Cat GB. I have a few of these HB F8F's in the stash. How did it build ?

    • Louis,
I think it went together very well and I had no trouble with the fits. A simple well engineered kit. Personally I think the old Testors kits is still the greatest. Unfortunately not to today's quality and detail but with loads of aftermarket stuff it can be turned into a beauty.

  7. Frank, I have grown to really like the Bearcat, I always thought it was one of the most overlooked airplanes by the model companies, especially in this age of the more detailed styled kits. Nice that Hobby Boss gave it a shot. Your build looks very nice, a very well done /thumbs up from me !

    Nice Bearcat.

  9. Very neat Bearcat, Frank, and a worthy addition to the group build.

  10. Nice clean build - good work!

  11. One Mean cat for sure. I've seen on of these cats playing with P-51D's-put them to shame in the climb and low level speed runs-truly an awsome machine!
