This is 's 1:48 scale kit of one of the variant's of 's famous fighter aircraft.

Because of the squared off wing tips, allied pilots thought they were facing a new Japanese fighter, and gave her a different recognition name, Instead of "Zeke", which the aircraft actually was.) The new name, was originally, "Hap". However, Gen. "Hap" Arnold, who was in overall command of Army Air Forces, was NOT too thrilled with having an enemy aircraft named after him, (He was livid) and forced a change to the name of the "New" fighter to "Hamp" instead. True story.

This model represents an aircraft assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 202nd Naval Flying Group, Piloted by Ito Kiyoshi for attacks against Timor and Northern Australia, during 1942.

  3. Andyet another Seitz III Special.

One thing: can you go to the home appliance store and get some "daylight" bulbs for light? that or go into PS and lower the tungsten light? Great models, bad lighting. I know that thing isn't "honey color".

    • Yeah, I am not much of a photographer, and I think I need to pick up a few more lights as well as those daylight LED bulbs.
Regarding the color, it is a grey-brown, but not "Honey". I had used a Model Master paint, SEA Bomber Tan, but that seemed a wee bit too dark. I was shown a mix of Tamiya 45% Kahki, 45% Light Grey and 10% Sky. Plus highlights of Light Grey. Still looks a little dark in the lighting. I might tweak the color by adding more light grey.

  4. Another winner, Frederick! I really like the square wingtip Zeros. (And Spitfires) Really well built and decorated.

  5. I really like the clipped wing Zeke! Your take on this great fighter is fantastic.

  6. Nice Zeke! I didn't know about this version.
