Nose Art Group Build 1/48 Hasegawa P-40N
Many thanks to Jamie Carreon for starting this Group Build, the amount of subjects as well as various models that can be entered are truly endless. My addition is the Hasegawa P-40N that's been around for awhile but still builds up as an excellent model. Nice detail as well as a very good parts fit are it's high points. The low point for me was the lack of a decent cockpit seat, therefore I substituted an aftermarket one. I also used Fundekals for the stars and bars as Hasegawa seems to have trouble producing the color white on their decals.
The cockpit was hand painted using Model Master acrylics, the upper service was painted using Tamiya TS-68 Wooden Deck Tan from a rattle can. The lower service is Model Master Duck Egg Blue. Weathering was done with a brown Pitt Pen to high light the panel lines. Antenna wire is nylon thread. Fun build for me and I'll probably add another model to this GB.

Really nice P-40N rendition! Amazing how bad the seat kit is compared to the resin after-market. Nice job all around. I just finished a Trumpeter P-40B kit in 1/32, that was nice fitting kit also. Should give one of those a try but need to replace cockpit floor.

What’s not to like? A desert tan P-40 full of great details that show your care while painting and weathering. I’m a blissful ignorant regarding this plane, so can only tell how good it looks to me overall. Congrats Tom!

I like it! I recently finished one in this same desert tan scheme, and I think it ended up one of my favorite builds and schemes. Yours looks fantastic.
Well you did it again... and built up another beautiful P-40 ! For some reason (at least in my eyes), the P-40 looks it's best wearing a desert scheme. You really don't see many built up in a solid desert tan color too often.
This one is stunning, and a welcome addition to the Nose Art GB.

Tom, sometimes you see a build and it just looks like it could fly of the bench. This is one of those realistic builds. I can't begin to say how much I like this - honestly, it really put a huge smile on my face - just because it is so good!
