Duguay Trouin (D611) – Heller 1/400

June 18, 2018 · in Ships · · 3 · 3.1K

Greetings fellow modelers!

Some time ago I posted the Duquesne from (http://imodeler.com/2018/05/duquesne-d603-heller-1-400/) and I've already explained the problems that it gave to me, but with this one (which is for the same customer as the Duquesne) it was a total different story.

Ok, it has most of the same problems, but basic building was a little bit easier. However, the radar towers were too bad and I had to replace them with some scratch, specially the front one, which didn't come at all. Also, the landing pad ant-fall nets were remade from scracth. As you can see, the result was really good and gave the ship a better look.
Paint was exactly the same as the Duquesne, but the weathering was a little bit heavier.

I'm sorry for the short review, but since it's very similar to the Duquesne, I think that not too much is left to say.
In conclusion, another hard to build model, not suitable for beginners, which needs a lot of extra work in order to make it look good.

Hope you like it!

  3. Hello Claudio,
These Heller models are not the most easiest models to put together.
You did a great job. Like mentioned above, French Naval Designers have a good taste, almost as good as our Italian fiends. They are for me personally the number 1.
    Regards, Dirk / The Netherlands.
