Fairey Barracuda, 1:48 Special Hobby

This was a commission build for a client who creates amazing photo-composite work. You don't see many of these built, and I'm not surprised as it's a b***h of a kit in places! My client wanted a wheels-up configuration, which the kit does not include so I used a resin aftermarket undercarriage set and worked those into the configuration for raised undercarriage and re-scribed panel lines. A very challenging kit but satisfying results finally achieved! I was also required to build a torpedo and dolly (Flightpath set), a really nice little build!

  1. Charles, beautifully done! I can see why your client didn't want the gear down, it's stalky looking enough without it.

  2. Well done! The torpedo details are well done, as well. Totally real!

  3. Don't see too many of these built...nice work! 🙂

  4. I've got one of these in my stash, every now and then I get it out but all that glass and cockpit interior puts me off and back it goes...
    Well done Charles.

  5. "challenging kit" is an understatement! Total @#$%$#@! is more like it. So given that fact, your triumph of battering this pig into shape is really commendable. One would never know how awful it is to look at this.

  6. Hello Charles,
    Your model looks fantastic.
    Regards, Dirk / The Netherlands.

  7. Looks excellent! I would love to see more pics, especially underside, as I will also build mine (1/72) wheels up and would like to see what you ended up with.

  8. Thankyou all for your kind comments! I will post further images as and when my client sends them. I am hoping for some really cool photo-composite images that he creates!
