I have been building plastic models for most of my life Started out as a kid, got sidetracked by girls, marriage and kids, (But I never stopped building though...) then got back into it in the early 80's...

I really got serious about HOW I build after reading a Kalmbach book titled, "How to Build Scale Models" by Roscoe Creed. It's written in plain English, and it's written to someone who really had no idea how to make, "those seams go away." From there the rest is history.

Mostly I build aircraft, but I have started to dabble with some armor and ships. we'll see how that turns out!

I've met many great folks while enjoying this hobby and hopefully will meet a few more from this website. I LOVE the low key approach, and the complete lack of whining that can be seen on other sites.

Thanks for having me aboard!

Revell of Germany, (Accurate Miniatures) 1:48 Scale IL-2, "Stormovik"

The first for the new year, 2020, is this Revell of Germany, Ilyushin Il-2, Stormovik. Actually this is a repop of the Accurate Minatures kit, and is STILL a very nice kit, albeit a wee bit fiddley overall. The kit itself builds well, and [...]

The Class of 2019: Completions, and a couple major repairs...

Hey Folks! At the end of the year, it's always nice to see everyone's , 'Year in Review'! I do have a couple that are close, but they won't count, because this article deals with completed kits. All these kits are 1:48 Scale, from [...]

Tamiya 1:48 Scale, Dewoitine D-520

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays everyone! It's been a wee bit since my last post, but I figured with the end of the year so close at hand, why not? Anyway, I had this kit sitting up in the stash, and I saw one in a video about the early [...]

Airfix 1:48 Scale, Bristol Blenheim Mk.If

I just finished this one...loved the kit, and planning on a second in Desert Air Force livery. On the whole, the kit was an interesting build. Went together well, without a lot of crying... very little putty... putty means sanding... [...]

Hasegawa, 1:48 Scale P-40, “Kittyhawk III” (Longtail ‘K’), RNZAF

I think Hasegawa's line of P-40 kits are pretty much, the best of the type in this scale. They are loaded with fine detail and the fit is pretty good throughout, suffice to say, they are kits that have been very well engineered. They have [...]

Tamiya 1:48 Scale, P-47D-27 Ra, "Thunderbolt"

Typical Tamiya build...Loved it from end to end, (Except the decals,...YUK) Kit was a pleasure to build, and I am currently working on another, as well as a Razorback version. Markings are those of a P-47 flown by Capt. Edward Curry [...]

Tamiya 1:48 Scale, Ki.61-I

Probably one of the best models I've ever built. Tamiya has really upped the game with this kit, with the engineering being amazing. Very little putty is required, and the kit falls together. The only complaint I can point at, are the [...]

Hobby Boss 1:48 Scale, F4F-3 (Early) “Wildcat”

Hey Folks, It's been awhile since I last posted, but I have been busy building a lot. It's been a regular, "Fighter-Pa-Loozah" here on the Island and I have managed to finish a couple kits, This HB kit is not a bad model. In [...]

Trumpeter 1:48 Scale, Vickers ‘Wellington’ Mk.1c

Finally calling this one done. Great model, lots of fun to build, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the kit at a show up in Poughkeepsie, NY, off a table set up by the sponsoring clubs members. Wasn't to familiar with the 'Wellington', [...]

1:48 Scale, Hobby Boss, F4F-3, “Yellow Wing”

While I’m waiting on “Wimpy” to dry, I started another project, and one I’ve always wanted to tackle. A US Navy, “Yellow Wing”. I just think they are some of the most colorful aircraft that ever flew. I’m using Hobby [...]
