I love modeling! I mainly do 1/48 aircraft from all countries and eras (mainly from about the interwar period to about the seventies) but also a few cars and some sci-fi! I’ve been modeling now for about five years after a fifteen year hiatus and have recently expanded into the wonderful world of resin kits! (Got a couple of Neomega cockpits for my Viggen and Buccaneer and their Yak-23 and J-29 Tunnan. Waiting on my LSM Martin B-10)
I generally have more than one kit going at a time to save cleaning time on my airbrush! I recently got done doing a Skyray, Cutlass, Crusader, Phantom and Tomcat all in Grey and white. Still have an A3D, Vigilante two Intruders and a Prowler to start on, but I’m sick of grey and white for a while! Now I’m on to some 50’s era F-100s (two D’s and an F) in 1/48 scale and am also working on a 1/32 F-100D and Lightning F.1A in Firebirds markings.
Apart from modeling I also enjoy accumulating foreign cars. Only two cars are in my stash because I put them there, the others seemed to just show up in my driveway! I saw there’s a “My Garage” forum, I’ll have to post some stuff there. I also will have my private pilots license 10 years this July and like to get up when weather is nice and finances allow it! (I have to rent my plane, and between the cars, flying and modeling, I can’t do it all all the time!) I also enjoy attending EAA (I refuse to call it AirVenture) every year since I live in Oshkosh. (Anybody need photos from the museum for reference, just let me know. I’d be glad to help out!)

Monogram 1/48 Me-262

by Josh Patterson on December 19, 2015 in Uncategorized -- 6 Comments

First headline post after a short hiatus from modeling. Earlier this year I read about Flying Heritage Collection’s Me-262 restoration that will be flying soon with the original style (but not completely original as the guts have been remanufactured with […]

1/25 Airfix Maserati Boomerang… and a warning for those who don’t know!

by Josh Patterson on October 13, 2014 in Cars & Motorcycles -- 9 Comments

What we had here was a Maserati Boomerang. We’ll start off with the warning. It doesn’t matter how cool you think it is outside, don’t leave your models in the car with the windows rolled up! The body on mine […]

Wings of the Red Star Volume I – MiG-29

by Josh Patterson on June 7, 2014 in Aviation -- 11 Comments

Well, at least I’m not the one to break the D-Day streak. Honestly I think it’s the kit’s fault as it kept horning in on my own D-Day build. Well, anyway here goes the rest of the article. It will […]

D-Day C-47 Skytrain

by Josh Patterson on June 6, 2014 in Aviation -- 22 Comments

Well, it’s 9:15 p.m. Central and I just finished mowing my Dad’s yard. Now that work is over, I can contribute to the D-Day build. I know I said I could get this done in two weeks, and I probably […]

Testors (Hawk) F8F-2 Bearcat

by Josh Patterson on May 17, 2014 in Aviation -- 19 Comments

Here’s a companion to my F7F-3N I did a while back. I had the kit sitting on my shelf for half of forever and decided just to build it straight OOB just for a little painting practice. I’ve read about […]

Revell 1/48 Lockheed PV-1 Ventura

by Josh Patterson on May 16, 2014 in Aviation -- 18 Comments

I guess I can’t just work on one model at a time. This is Revell’s Lockheed Ventura. The kit is nicely detailed externally with a nice representation of the front office. The only low point is the area aft of […]

Italeri 1/48 C-130 E/H

by Josh Patterson on April 26, 2014 in Aviation -- 17 Comments

I can only take credit for the last 75% of this build. Way back in 93 I helped one of my Mom’s friends move out of his roofing buisness. He was an avid gardener, which is how my Mom knew […]

William’s Bros. 1/32 Gee Bee Z Super Sportster

by Josh Patterson on April 15, 2014 in Aviation -- 22 Comments

Well, I’ve already professed a few of my loves in aviation (classic jets and round engines). Another would be the Golden Age of air racing. This was a time when mere mortals were designing and building aircraft in their garages […]

Monogram 1/48 B-25J

by Josh Patterson on April 5, 2014 in Aviation -- 13 Comments

This is the first of the Monogram medium bombers I’ve finished. I have to say the quality of the kits during this era was and still is very nice! I’ve built the B-29 a couple of times and the B-17 […]

AMT’s 1/48 F7F-3N Tigercat

by Josh Patterson on March 22, 2014 in Aviation -- 20 Comments

Well, not only do I love vintage jets, but I’m also a s****r for anything with a round engine! (Hearing EAA’s B-17 flying around yesterday got me thinking about it again!)I think the Tigercat ranks among the best looking of […]
