This is the new Airfix Mk.I. Light years better than their effort of a few years ago. Built absolutely out of the box, with the exception of Eduard seat belts. Everything fitted beautifully with just a little attention to the […]
I have been modelling since ‘Before Plastic’ when balsa was the popular material. Thank heavens for modern technology!
My interest is aircraft; preferably 1/48 & 1/32 scale & mostly WWII ,1950’s & ’60’s. I like a challenge & while a perfect kit is always welcome, some are just plain scary with all the intricately engineered parts’ provided. It’s a relief to get hold of something that requires some ingenuity but is cheap enough so that a mistake is unlikely to cause a financial disaster.
According to my references, A77-157 was delivered to the RAAF in Korea in February, 1952 & survived the conflict to meet its fate as a target drone in Woomera, South Australia in September 1969. Late production Meteors were equipped with […]
Finished at last! Not the easiest build I have ever done by a long shot & I can only recommend that any intending builder read the instructions very carefully & test fit everything as all is not what it seems […]
This kit has been in my stash since before I had a stash! At the time Otaki kits were state of the art but this one served to provide a better cowl ring for a Hasegawa build & so just […]
This is the first major 1/72nd kit I have built since around 1985: usually I do 1/48 & 1/32 scale, however the Shackleton has always been a favourite & at just over half a metre wingspan it’s not small! Beautifully […]
This is my first completion for 2016 although I started it before Christmas. The kit is the Eduard Week end boxing & went together with no real problems. Admittedly there is only one set of decals included & no resin […]
this is the Trumpeter F-100C kit which I built some 3 years ago. I had absolutely no trouble with it apart from a little bit of fettling around the air intake. Finish is Alclad & decals by Xtra Decals. The […]
This was going to be a double build along with the new Airfix Mk.I, but when I got started I just kept going. This kit just falls together & the only modification was to reduce the windscreen side panels to […]
Back in 1997 Airfix came out with a brace of Spitfire/Seafire kits to knock your socks off. For me, the magic still works & the result is here. This will not be the last of these kits for me as […]
When Airfix announced their new Spitfire XII & Seafire 17 kits I bought two of each. The first pair were out of the box & I was very happy with the results. Looking at the remaining pair I tried a […]
