Revell s new tool Spitfire Mk.IIa kit needs a lot of correction and modifications though it s a new generation.
I started with the cockpit as usual.
First step: Instrument panel swapped with Eduard PE set.

Seat replaced by Barracudacast resin set.
Painted to Backalite color.

Revell came up short on making this kit. With all the available information that is around they didn't do their home work. Fortunately, there are lots of offerings from the resin people to correct this kit. I hope Tolga that you replace the wheels for starters. Its been rumored that Revell went and looked at a Warbird that had been restored to flying condition with parts taken from later Marks of the Spitfire. Had they visit some of the more recent Spitfire projects that went all out for historical accuracy they would have come up with a winner. I'm sure that you will do your magic on this kit. Looking forward to more build photos.

But unfortunately it needs some corrections on the cowling area.
Size of the bulges on the cowlings is not accurate.
Inaccurate parts deleted. And replaced by the accurate ones. These parts are from my spare box.

Yes Stephen,
Revell s Spitfire has lot of mistakes although it s a new generation kit.
Cowling bulges
Propeller
Oıl cooler
Ailerons
Wheels
Wheels bulges on the wings
And Radiator housing have to be corrected

Some corrections on the wings (Part one):
Revell s oil cooler is completely wrong. I decided to use Eagle part resin correction set for this area. On the other hand Radiator area is also not accurate. (Especially flat radiator bay ) . Thanks God Barracudacast already released a correction set for this area..

Some updates after a short trip to Canada.
Reinforcement plates deleted on the upper and lower surfaces of the wings.
Wheel bulges on the upper surfaces of the wing are wrong.
I have deleted completely and replaced them by pieces from my spare box. These are large bulges from 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire IX kit. I have converted them to early ones by some surgery.

Ailerons are not correct. Revell offers inaccurate metal ailerons.
I replaced them with Barracudacast detailed fabric ailerons
On the other hand, coffman starter blister is not accurate.You can see the difference with the Hasegawa s Spitfire Mk.II kit part.
The grey one is Hasegawa part and it seems that Hasegawa s part is accurate as dimension and shape.
