It shouldn't be long now Allan, and your Cat will have some paint... Looks great ! The resin bits lined up nicely.

Engines painted with MM 1405 gunmetal buffing metalizer, buffed with a stiff brush, rivets are a bit heavy on the tail, trying to fill them with some paint ! added an air inlet for whatever, these and the 5A s have them !

A black cat none the less. That should look awesome when finished. Does any one know if it had a gloss versus a dull finish? The Army night birds all seem to have gloss finishes. Not sure how the Navy or Allies did theirs.

Thanks Tom, it seems RAAF cats had a flat to satin finish.

Many years ago I got the opportunity to speak with a PBY pilot who flew "Black Cat's" in the Pacific. I asked him about this and he told me that he remembered the planes as being more of a flat black than anything else. I'm sure the operating environment was a big part of this. I'm sure the sun and tropical environment would make a glossy paint go flat in little to no time at all.

    Looks great Allan !

Thanks Louis, glued the wing on a little while ago, it could use a bit more Klear, still looking slightly gray compared to the fuselage !

This one looks great , Alan. You must like the PBY, You’ve built several others. I have one to finish in prewar USN yellow/silver.
