Corsair in flight
This is Tamiya's 1/48 F4U-1A with all of the control surfaces deflected, including trim tabs, the flaps raised, and the gear retracted. I added a Monogram pilot figure with his head turned and looking up. The drop tank has just been punched oiff, and is tumbling down underneath the plane. I wired the 2800, but kept weathering to a minimum. This is one of the motorized kits, but I ruined the wiring in the process of mounting it on a stick. Enjoy.
Very nice presentation...I like that. What's more, you didn't have to know the answer to that age-old question of what color the wheel wells were.

Very cool presentation, and especially the photo (?) on the base is a brilliant idea. Perhaps using a clear rod would also help the tank to "detach" properly 🙂 More models like this, please /M.
I agree that a clear rod would work better, and I have done that on previous builds(to be posted here in the future), but the black rod in this display is actually a tube, concealing a brass tube which has the motorizing wires running up the inside. Unfortunately, I ruined the wiring during the build and the prop won't turn now. The brass tube also provides the strength to support the model at that angle. The picture on the base is a Pacific atoll in the New Hebrides, I think. Could be in New Caldonia as well, I don't really remember. I just wanted a small Pacific atoll in the 'background', as it were. Glad you like it, and thank's for the kind words.
George .. THIS IS a GREAT presentation of the gull-winged bird .. My Dad would LOVE to see this model .. he flew one with VMF-215 "over there", where the runways were only dirt . One can mentally see the white "con-trails" coming off the edges of the wings as it turns/climbs !

I had actually thought about adding the vapour trails from the wing tips, but couldn't come up with a viable method of doing it.
