1/32 TAMIYA Spitfire Mk.IXc

December 19, 2012 · in Aviation · · 6 · 3.5K

This is my Mk IXc finished with the markings of PT396 / EJ-C flown by Wg. Cdr. Jack Charles RCAF, OC Tangmare Wing in August 1944. I built this kit approx 2 years ago.
It s possible to describe that this is the finest model aircraft kit I ever built. Level of detail and fit is excellent.
Happy modelling
Tolga

  1. Sweet, Tolga. It's a standout build, and we've seen lots of Spits here lately.

  2. Great job.
very good details, I loved it.
the only thing I do not like are invacion bands are very pristine for me, because in reality were painted freehand brush on the run by mechanics.
But it's just an observation, the model is excellent, congratulations.

  3. Well this is just great! Now I may as well throw mine out after seeing what a real modeler can do. Awesome work with the detailing & weathering, sir. I don't deserve to have a Tamiya Mustang...YOU do! Great job..(and the ground crew that painted the invasion stripes were just as dedicated to their craft as you).

  4. Cool Spitfire! I loved it! Excellent toning and weathering!

  5. Actually, while the first D-Day markings were indeed applied with mops and brooms and such, those were mostly quickly replaced (since the paint was originally washable distemper) with a better bit of paint work, so this model is quite accurate in that regard, particularly inasmuch as it's the airplane the Wingco flew.

This is easily one of the three best results with this kit I have seen since it first came out.
