Hasegawa 1/32nd Messerschmitt Bf109G-14
This short-tailed Bf109G-14 was the benificiary of a tail swap from their Hartmann 109G-6 kit. It was built to represent the mount of Lt. Heinz Ewald of 7./JG-52 while based at Veszprem, Hungary in the Fall of 1944. Ewald survived the war with 84 credited victories.
For this model, I used an MDC cockpit set, canopy detail set, wheels, spinner, and drop tank. Exhausts, radiator inlets, and stabilizers were from Cutting Edge. Paints from Floquil military flats range and decals from Eagle Editions. Scratch modifications included sealing off radiator intakes with curved plastic card, cutouts in wheel wells and installation of retraction rams, and leather zippered wheel well pockets from Tamiya tape and aluminum foil. Brake lines from insulated wire. Antenna wire tensioner and canopy brake spring were cut from bits of light bulb filament. The tall tail from this kit was used on the Hartmann edition 109G-6 kit which I will post here in a little while.
Another boring Whipple model, built to the same high standard as all the others. 🙂
