Hawker Hurricane MkI, 17 Sqn, Debden 1940 (1:32 Pacific Coast Models)

December 19, 2012 · in Aviation · · 6 · 1.8K

Mk1, N2359, YB*J, flown by P/O Stevens, 17Sqn Debden. This aircraft served with the unit between 6th June and 25th August 1940, when it was passed on to No6 OTU. Unusually for RAF fighters of this period, many in this unit had colourful artwork, one of the best examples being the famous 'winged Popeye'.

  1. Top-notch build, Charles...exquisitely weathered I might add.

  2. I don't know how anyone voted this less than a "10". The weathering on the model is incredibly realistic.

  3. Nice work, Charles! We don't see many of these built and yours turned out great- my compliments on your wing-fuselage joins and the subtle dihedral. I know how much work goes into making that all fit around the wheel well. Splendid!

  4. Oh, and I forgot to mention the cockpit- the chain for the control column and RB Harness (I presume) really make it pop!

  5. This kit has been done to perfection in my book. I gave it a Ten and the darn star meter moved up to 9.3.

Hurricanes always take the back seat of not only the Spitfire but, all of the other sexy fighters. Folks seem to think there plain Jane's...I disagree they are things of beauty. Excellent work Erik.
