MRC 1/35 Bell 47D Mash Helicopter – Kit #BA 102

February 13, 2013 · in Aviation · · 1 · 4.4K

With my fumbling fingers, failing eyesight and faulty building techniques, this kit was a challenge. Fitting, aligning and keeping the boom/frame assembly straight was frustrating, to say the least. The illustrations in the instructions for the engine assembly required me to guess quite a bit as to where and how various parts fit and intertwined. I have not installed the side doors/clear parts yet, and probably won't.

Of course, the operator decided to wait until I installed the canopy before he decided to enter the cockpit, and had some difficulty squirming in there around the instrument panel and control stick. It was all brush painted with MM enamels.

This is my second helicopter kit, and I have a couple more waiting to do.

  1. Looks OK to me, Larry...and the color is right on, IMO. The ones they showed on M.A.S.H. always looked too dark if ya ask me. Nasty weather in Korea...either blistering hot or frigidly cold. Kinda lot here, 'cept no snow - lol.
