Smoke (rings) Gets In Your Eyes…

March 19, 2013 · in Aviation · · 7 · 1.6K

First of all, no... I am NOT that good with an airbrush... smoke rings are Mike Grant decals. Something a bit different for me (it wasn't built in Germany) 😉 - The Hase Mc-205 Veltro. Added a bunch of P-E, some modified QB resin exhausts & I don't remember what else. MM enamels, Aeromaster(?) markings, weathering with pastel chalks. Between the desert/smoke ring scheme, reverse spinner spiral and yellow prop tips I just had to do it.

P.S. No longer using human hair for antenna wires... it sags with the slightest increase in humidity! 😉

  1. Very nice work, Stan...exemplary job with the little nuances of weathering, staining and detail(s) - and don't think the choice of bottle cap colors - and they're reference - didn't go unnoticed.

  2. I LOVE this one Stan, what a beautiful job, and I really like those MG decals. I have a set of them and I think it's onto another c.202 or c.205, Maybe a CR-42?
    Excellent job!

  3. Fabulous. You wouldn't believe that these are decals, and the consistency of the achieved camo pattern is most convincing.

Wow! Awesome little plane! Bloody good job, sir!

  5. Sensational result (you ain't half bad with a camera either)! I have a couple of these kits in the 'waiting room' and now you've given me a reason to go buy some Mike Grant decals. Well done.

  6. Decals? Damn they look good, nice job sir.

  7. Thanks to all for positive feedback. A note on the decals- excellent product (thanks much Mike G.) but, due to the nature of ALPS printed decals, they are fragile. Not the carrier film- that's fine.. nice & thin and durable... responds nicely to Micro Set/Sol. But the color (ink) is very susceptible to the slightest abrasion. Get 'em on and clear coat 'em to protect them from further handling.
