1/48 Monogram F9F-2 Panther
I thought I'd try to back date the F9F-5 to the 2 version, and so, rounded the tail a little. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it looked ok to me. My collection needed a "Blue Angel", and I thought this would be a good place to begin. A least the scheme was different from most I'd seen. This was a nice kit, and a fairly simple build. I only wish they had followed up with a decent Cougar.

Nice job there Joe.
A nice gloss finish and clean.
I did the Matchbox 1/72 version and that didnot build that bad.
A pretty plane Joe

The Monogram kit modified like this makes a far better F9F-2 than the "doorstop" Trumpeter F9F-2, that's for sure.
I actually got to see the Blue Angels perform in F9F-5s in 1955 at NAS Buckley Field in Denver - the next year they transitioned to Cougars. I think this is where my love affair with the Panther began.
Nice work on this.
