Alan Wolfson – Master of Diorama Building
What’s that giant quarter doing in the New York subway station? Actually, the entire scene is a diorama, or “miniature urban sculpture” created by Alan Wolfson.
Alan Wolfson specializes in modeling urban environments. Complete with complex interior views and lighting effects, a major work can take several months to complete, but his results are spectacular. Meet Alan in this video clip:

Plenty of bang for the buck.
Not sure how he scales it (read through pages of Q&As but may have missed it). It’s like a hyper version of architectural modelling. Fascinating to see the camera angles as walk-throughs.
Note to Alan: larger font, please! Great to view images in different resolutions but I found the text hard work after a while.

It’s all about the lighting and the planning of the photo “shot”. I’ve viewed some mundane models but photographed in such a manner they appeared to be prototypical in every respect. This is wonderful work, thanks for posting it!
