1/48 scale Heller RF-84F Thunderflash 127 TRW Michigan ANG circa 1970
i started this kit over 20 years ago and decided to start building again. so i dragged it out and finished it. the cockpit tub was lost as where the dive brakes,etc. i cobbled some up out of spares,junk and flotsam. this is favorite subject of mine due to the fact i lived 2 miles from the runway these aircraft used while stationed at detroit wayne county airport(DTW).

Sometimes it just takes that final touch to finish a beautiful painting or model. Your taking that time has paid off with this beauty.
i used my crummy cell phone to do they 2 photos i have...i had to take about 10 pics before i got 2 that were any good at all. i am going to recruit the wife into taking some pics with her camera

Nice job on the Thunderflash! Superscale made an awesome decal sheet for this as a natural metal bird. I've had one of these in my stash for years, just never started it because I was always let down by the cockpit. (Although the rest of the kit fits beautifully!) After Monograms kit of the F-84F, I'm a little spoiled. I honestly think the cockpit in that model was their best effort, even to this day! (The B-29 was not far behind!) Methinks I'll dig mine out!
BTW, how did Republic get away with using F-84 on three different planes? (Well the did at least put an "R" in front of F-84F for yours!
It was to do with budget allocations. If they kept the same number it was development money rather than capital expenditure. This didn’t need political approval.
