Revell (X MPM) Meteor F4

March 22, 2014 · in Aviation · · 15 · 2.6K

Hi All, Another oldie i built this last year its the (X ) F4 or as we brits call
it The Meat Box.

Not a bad kit, nice surface detail the cockpit isn't great but a perfect candidate for fitting the Zoom Etch which i did it was for the kit ( at least i think its the Dragon kit i know i put one in it but not 100% on which kit it was originally meant for ) plenty of filler around the wing joints to the inner and outer joints to the engine nacelle's and and around the engine intakes the joint to the fuselage wasn't to bad,

Painted with X11 Chrome Silver, even tough they kinda look like a natural metal finnish they were actually painted in a colour called High Speed Silver, the decals used are for No 600 Sqn Royal auxiliary Air Force RAF Biggin Hill 1951. As for the weathering it was done in the usual way for me i.e. the old Flory dark dirt Wash and the Tamiya Weathering pastels just to dirty it up here and there and give the gun ports a bit of sooting up.

Ok That pretty much sums it up sorry about one or two of the wonky pictures im still practicing,
Cheers

  1. Nicely done Mark. Is it 1/72nd or 1/48th?

  2. Excellent "High Speed Silver". The RaAF provides some lovely subject matter.

  5. Nice clean build, just enough weathering to bring it to life.

  6. Meteors always look good, they somehow seem to reflect that 1950s era perfectly. This one is perfect.

  7. whew...another killer mark

  8. Mark,

Very, Very, nicely done. You are a master at 1/72.

    • Thanks Frank, im not sure about that Mate i think the Camera for once makes them look a bit better than they actually are.

My 1/48 Invader turned up yesterday i am very happy with it and the Decals dont look to bad but i have found some aftermarket ones just in case, i wanted to do one in the D-Day build but im not sure they were around in time i know they were operating in France around August and i have seen a few photos of them with partial invasion stripes just under the rear fuselage just behind the gun turret, there is film of a restored one flying on uTube with a full set of stripes but im not sure if its authentic or not.

      Thanks for kind comments Frank

  9. Mark, beautiful job on one of the RAF's most important fighters, their first operational jet. Many thanks!
