Airfix Spitfire Mk XII in 1/48 scale
This is Airfix’s recent kit release which I built shortly after it hit the shops. It’s pretty much out of the box, but a couple of points made me a little reluctant to post images. I felt that the belly tank detracted from the profile image, so it has gone. A few swipes with a sanding stick on the top cowling contour fixed a ‘fat’ look & a minor adjustment to the sit of the windscreen & canopy seemed to lengthen the nose a trifle & slim the fuselage a tad. Really I suppose I’m being obsessive, but to me the Spitfire has such fine lines & subtle curves that otherwise minor issues scream for correction. These comments only reflect my opinion & the kit really is excellent OOB. I will (of course!) be building another. Thanks for looking.

Tony, your obvious enthusiasm for the Spitfire shows in how well you’ve built this kit, it looks superb (even though I prefer the looks of the Hurricane)!
