Arizona trip-Flying Spads and Bristols…

April 9, 2014 · in Aviation · 3 · 1.1K

Howdy campers, here's some shots of my brother's R/C aircraft in their natural element. The scene is a club flying field in the expanse of the Sonoran Desert just outside Tucson. The Spad 13 is 1/6, a highly modified kit and the Bristol 1/8, IIRC. Both are VERY scale (rthe Spad even has scale wing aerfoils) and fly beautifully. And the Bristol F2B is fully crewed. . My kid and brother did all the work, I sat and filmed and watched.

  1. Seriously impressive, Bill, thanks for letting us see this.

  2. And you think OUR "hobby" is getting expensive? Ask Bill how much THIS set-up is worth (including the trailer). Nice shots, by the way.

  3. What are you doing hiding in the shade? A person has to have a lot of fortitude to put something as nice as these at risk.
I agree with Craig of the relative exspence of our hobbies. Used to be ahem I thought I was spending too much I would go to a model railroad show.
