  8. The second photo is the most iconic, used by many authors writing articles or books concerning D-Day. The photo is of a U. S. Coast Guard LCVP from the Coast Guard attack transport SAMUEL B CHASE. I had the good fortune to speak with one of the boat coxswains from the CHASE a few years ago. They were truly "the greatest generation", willing to sacrifice the most precious thing we all possess, one's life, for a just cause. Thank you Martin for posting the photos and for this wonderful modeling site!
