RAF Duxford – New Generation
I've been to RAF Duxford (Imperial War Museum) many times, and have several hundred photos of the aircraft there. Two of my grandsons were off school today, and my wife and I thought it would be nice to take them there, as they've never been that close to aircraft, and certainly hadn't seen a 'living' museum of this type.
It was interesting, to see the place through their eyes, and to answer their questions, trying to explain what the Battle of Britain was to a six- and eight-year old...

What a treat for your grandsons, with an airshow added as well! And your beautiful photos are something for us iModeler folks to enjoy. The Sabre engine is a real monster, and one of my favorite aero engines. Well done, and many thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting Rob. Great pictures from a museum I may get to see someday. I know they have online exhibits, but not the same thing. Looks like a fun day and a chance to hook two more into loving airplanes and plane modelling!

It's Spitfire F Mk.Ia N3200 (G-CFGJ). Owned by the Mark One Partnership LLC, and based at Duxford Airfield. First post-restoration flight took place on 26 March 2014 at Duxford. Ex 19 Sqn machine, she sports the QV squadron codes she wore when she was shot down on 26 May 1940 in support of the Operation DYNAMO evacuation of Dunkirk with Sqn Ldr Geoffrey Stevenson, 19 Sqn OC, at the controls.
