Otaki 1/48th P-40

July 10, 2014 · in Aviation · · 7 · 2.3K

You builders have no one to blame but yourselves for this dog being shown. I was feeling left out. It was pulled out of my graveyard.

It was built when the kit was first released so you tell me how long ago that was.

Brush painted with Humbrel paints. Chipping done by painting over tape scrapes (don't think there was liquid mask then) & Rub 'N' Buff. Lost a wheel from a bearing failure on one strut & the fuel tank has been dropped.

I still think it is a nice kit & I have another unbuilt one that has no decals that I might get to one of these days.

  2. Sometime 1972-75. Nice work on it.

  3. Isn't it great to bring out some of the old stuff now and again, just to remember that time in your life when you built it?

  4. Like it Al better than my effort at this old classic..!

  5. great job...great kit

  6. I still the Otaki is a fine looking kit, and yours is a good example. Two thumbs up, Al.

  7. Al,
You are too hard on yourself. We all had to start with what we had. This looks very good but most of all it shows how you have advanced to a master modeler. I think the Otaki kit is still available from time to time and for it's age it is still a decent kit. In fact most of the Otaki kits were and are pretty good.
